1001 Spikes is a platform game developed and published by Nicalis. Originally named Aban Hawkins & the 1001 Spikes, the game's objective, relative to many platformer games of its type, is to escape vast terrain and struggle to reach for victory without getting plummeted by spikes and many other disasters. Throughout the multiple travels, the game seems to get increasingly challenging, especially having to dodge falling stones and much more.
Within the story, it is learned that Jim Hawkins, a world renown Archaeologist, has been lost within the frozen tundra of Antarctica. Before the disappearance, his daughter, Tina, is left with a map to the forgotten ruins of South America alongside her estranged son, Aban Hawkins, to retrieve their fathers legacy while going under exploration within the temple.
1001 Spikes received generally positive from critics. It holds an aggregate score of 80.00% on GameRankings and 78/100 onMetacritic. IGN gave the game an 8/10, favoring its abundance of content and exhilarating disasters, while shows disappointment of the increasing repetition of the game as the levels advance.
